PSTN & ISDN Switch-off

Is your business ready for the PSTN & ISDN Switch-off?

Most companies will need to move before the final switch-off in January 2027. Here’s what you need to know.

What does it all mean?

The hot topic of business telephony will be the imminent cease of the PSTN (Public Service Telephone Network) and the need to move from an ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) to a SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) based telephony service.

Soon a wave of acronyms and industry terminologies will be used by all Managed Service Providers and Telecommunications Resellers to get you to sign up with their service over another and it can all become very confusing, very quickly.

Here at Breeze Logic, one of our missions is to make technology simple. As a technology industry we are all incredibly guilty of the use of overly complex statements to address what is in principle a straightforward process.

Be future-proof. Be future-ready

With the PSTN & ISDN switch-off approaching, it’s essential to future-proof your business communications. Upgrading now ensures you stay ahead, avoiding disruptions and embracing more efficient, flexible solutions.

When is the PSTN & ISDN Switch-off?

The PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) and ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) switch-off is scheduled to take place in the UK by the end of 2027.

This marks a significant shift as traditional copper-based telephone lines will be fully replaced by modern, digital alternatives such as VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) services.

If your business is still using PSTN or ISDN lines, now is the time to start planning for the transition. Switching to a digital solution not only ensures uninterrupted communication but also offers enhanced features, flexibility, and cost-efficiency.

What is VoIP?

Voice over IP (Internet Protocol) is a catch-all term, for telephony provided using the internet to carry your calls over a SIP trunk. In simple terms, SIP provides the ability to transmit voice calls over the internet through a dedicated service provided by specific carriers, usually arranged by your service provider partner if using an on-site telephone system or included as part of a hosted telephone service.

A common misconception is that VoIP is a hosted or cloud only telephony service and whilst this is true it is not exclusive.

VoIP can be delivered in a myriad of ways that should be selected to suit your budget and needs. It should not mean lengthy contracts or complex finance agreements that leave you feeling confused as to what you are purchasing and how.

How can we help?

We are passionate about integrity and ethics and are focused on ensuring all our proposals and contracts are entirely without any hidden nasties.

Whether it is cloud-hosted or on-premises, whether it is a monthly subscription, capital purchase or finance leased, we work with you to understand what is important, for you and not what meets sales quotas.

We take our time to understand what drives your business and what path you are on, to ensure anything proposed is suitable now and for your future and importantly, always explain in simple terms how pricing breaks down. No hidden costs, no nasty clauses. Simply, logical.
